Request Roster Consideration
(for prospective artists)

For artists seeking roster consideration and representation by Promising Projects, here is some info that you might find helpful as a guide prior to submitting. We also encourage you to read the About Us section, as well!

We are an agency collaborating with artists in many different ways, depending on the scope of their project. It is our goal to maintain a roster with balance between diversity and synergy. We are not a record label, thus we do not advance money to artists, provide tour support or absorb expenses on behalf of artists. We are a collaborative, full services agency for independent artists.

We typically prefer to work with a new artist in the capacity of booking a defined tour, as opposed to signing a new artist for general representation; although we do work with artists in both capacities. We usually like to have an evaluation period with new artists, which allows space to define the nature of the working relationship, scope of the tour, financial particulars, etc.

Here is a list of things we look for in evaluating a prospective artist. It is by no means an exhaustive list, nor is it a checklist. It is also not in any particular order. It is just some of the things about which we think and explore.

  • Quality of Music - Both as a product and as a live performance.
  • Purpose of Music - What drives you to do what you do? Why do you do it?
  • Performance History - Taking a survey of your history as a musician, including previous projects.
  • Scalability - Do you perform only, or primarily, as a solo artist? With band? Or with many configurations?
  • Modularization - Do you have a core group only, or a core group to which you can add additional players?
  • Availability - Are you a full-time, part-time, or a weekend warrior musician?
  • Obligations Survey - Do you, or band members, have work schedules or family requirements around which tours must be planned?
  • Bookability - How easy or difficult is your style of music to book, and what types of performance markets would be viable for your music?
  • Project Funding - How is your project funded as a going concern?
  • Development Position - What have you done, on your own behalf, to develop your project?
  • Opportunity Development - What parts of your project have not yet been developed and how could we assist with developing/monetizing those areas?
  • Character Assessment - How do we feel about working with you?
  • Synergy - How does your project synergize with our current roster?
  • Diversity - Does your project bring something new to our roster and what resources would be required, on our end, to represent you?
